2015 SFA Encuentro!
Organized by: Kimberly Gonzalez
The CIW’s national Campaign for Fair Food educates consumers on the issue of farm labor exploitation – its causes and solutions – and forges alliances between farmworkers and consumers in an effort to enlist the market power of major corporate buyers to help end that exploitation. Since 2001, farmworkers have partnered with people of faith, students and young people, and communities all over the country to win respect for workers from some of the largest corporations in the world. Each fall, the Campaign for Fair Food takes off with a burst of renewed energy thanks to an annual Immokalee tradition: The Student/Farmworker Alliance Encuentro! The Encuentro is an action-packed weekend of strategizing and learning for students and youth from all over the country. The Encuentro this year is set for September 10-13. Jabari and myself will be attending the Encuentro this year and are asking for your help to get us there! Any donation would be a great help to reach our goal and attend this amazing event where we will have the opportunity to connect with young leaders from around the country!
