DINING FOR WOMEN wrote -
Who taught you to stand up for yourself and for others? Who showed you being kind didn't mean being weak? Who helped you become the woman you are today? For most of us it's our mom, or an aunt, or a sister, teacher or friend. In honor of Mother's Day, we invite you to pay tribute to the woman in your life by making a donation to Dining for Women to make sure that daughters around the world will have strong, empowered women to show them the way.
To help us celebrate these relationships, we asked our programs for some stories that illustrate the strength and importance of these bonds.
Meet Kamla, a laborer-turned-artisan, who has been able to move her daughters into a new house. "I just want my daughters to be proud of me," she says.
And Olive, whose daughter graduated university with a degree in economics and is now an entrepreneur with a proud mom backing her emotionally and financially.
Get to know Doris, a young girl whose shyness and lack of confidence was driving her dreams away, until she met the mentor who would change her life.
And Silvie and her daughter Nathaly, who are quite simply inseparable.
And finally Brenda, an orphan at 7, adrift in the world until her grandmother's love and support filled her and focused her.
Read these stories and share your own here with your donation in honor of the woman who made you the woman you are.
