In the summer of 2013 I taught at the GO Project, a non-profit organization that provides critical academic, social and emotional support for New York City children who are struggling in their public school. This year I joined the Young Leadership Council to raise awareness and funds for this worthy organization. Please join me and the YLC in raising funds for GO Project's Second Annual Backpack Drive!
The backpacks and supplies GO students receive will last them through the entire school year. This request is time-sensitive as we need to begin ordering school supplies in mid-June. Supplies include backpacks, notebooks, folders, paper, markers, pens, pencils, pencil cases, dictionaries, scissors, erasers and more.
We have 615 students in-need of school supplies in 2015. The new backpacks will not only give students essential materials for their education, they will inject a sense of enthusiasm and pride that will fuel them through the summer and coming school year.
Each backpack with supplies costs $20:
Backpacks for 50 children = $1,000
Backpacks for 25 children = $500
Backpacks for 12 children = $240
Backpacks for 5 children = $100
Backpack for 1 child = $20
For this drive, the GO Project is partnering with High Water Women or HWW (http://www.highwaterwomen.org/), an organization that has been organizing backpack drives for almost ten years.
On behalf of the entire GO Project, thank you for helping GO students receive a brand new filled backpack this summer!
