Please join me in raising funds for our second annual Backpack Drive, brought to you by the GO Project's Young Leadership Council (YLC)!
I have been actively involved with the GO Project as both a volunteer teacher and a YLC member for the last two years. At the GO Project, we believe that all children deserve access to a quality education. GO serves under-resourced and academically-struggling NYC public school students (grades K-8) who are the most at-risk of academic failure by intervening early with a high quality academic, enrichment and family support program.
It’s easy to take the basics for granted—many of our students don’t have access to school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, folders, paper, markers, pens, pencils, pencil cases, dictionaries, scissors, and erasers.
That’s why for the second year in a row, GO is partnering with High Water Women (HWW - http://www.highwaterwomen.org/), to host a backpack drive for GO students. Since 2005, HWW has sent more than 68,000 children to school with new backpacks and smiles.
We have 615 students in-need of school supplies in 2015. We need your help to raise $12,000 to make sure every student starts GO summer school this July with the tools they need to be successful in school.
The cost is $20 for each backpack with supplies:
Backpacks for 25 children = $500
Backpacks for 12 children = $240
Backpacks for 5 children = $100
Backpack for 1 child = $20
On behalf of the entire GO Project, THANK YOU!
