I have lived with CMD my whole life and never expected to have any form of treatment available. Early this year I was surprised and excited to learn about significant research being conducted around my specific Ullrich subtype. There is a “nuisance” that snuck into the Collagen 6 protein that messes everything up! If researchers can develop a medicine that can skip over this “nuisance” when communication signals in the protein/gene are taking place, then the mutation would be corrected. Most optimistically, this medicine could conceivably be on the market in my lifetime!
Cure CMD is dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for people affected by Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. We're making great strides forward in research!
We are entering into the MN Half Marathon/6K to both raise funds and awareness about CMD. The race is super fun! You can walk, run, or rollerblade a 6K or Half Marathon. Please consider sponsoring our team! Your financial support is deeply appreciated. Dollars raised in events like this around the country are truly moving the needle to improve long-term health, quality of life, and general well-being for people affected by CMD and will continue to support groundbreaking new discoveries and treatments. And for our event, every dollar raised will be matched up to $2,000. We can do it! Thanks so much for supporting this important work.
