Please support me, Tessa Warnock Dahlke, with your donation to the 2016 Dahlke Walk-a-Mile-for-a-Ranger campaign. I pledge to walk a minimum of 1,000 miles before the end of the year to raise funds for the Sua Sponte Foundation. http://suaspontefoundation.org/ The Foundation is a 501c3 charity that benefits the 1/75th Army Rangers and their families, particularly in times of crisis.
BACK STORY: My walk is dedicated to the memory of my Stepson, SSG Jason S. Dahlke, who stole my heart at age 7 when he, his dad Roger, and I became a family. Jason was a 1/75th Army Ranger who at age 29 was killed by enemy gunfire in the Paktika Province of Afghanistan on 08/29/2009. (See Jason’s bio at the Sua Sponte Foundation website.)
After Jason was killed, I searched long and hard for a way to move from an inward-facing place of pain and loss to a healing place where his sacrifice could be honored and respected while helping others. In 2011, I began the Dahlke Walk-a-Mile-for-a-Ranger Campaign to benefit 1/75th Army Rangers through the Sua Sponte Foundation. As of the end of 2015, I have walked a total of 5,700 miles…typically 4 miles/day, every day. If I could walk on water, the end-of-year 2015 would put me just past Athens, Greece from my home in Jacksonville, Fl. My ultimate goal is to walk the equivalent distance from my home to Paktika Province in Afghanistan where Jason was killed….an estimated 7,687 miles.
Please support our Army Rangers through your tax-deductible donation to Sua Sponte Foundation.
