On November 19, I will be running the Philadelpha Half Marathon to raise money for Every Mother Counts (EMC), a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. Scroll down to learn more about the work EMC is doing around the world, and yes, right here in the United States.
I am running 13.1 miles but that distance is nothing compared to the distances some women have to travel for maternal care. All I am asking is that you read about EMC and consider donating to this cause. When you donate, 100% of your donation goes directly to support maternal health programs around the world. Together, we can make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother.
Come on, you already took the first step, you made it to this page. Take the next step and click on Donate To This Fundraiser.
EVERY MOTHER COUNTS IS RUNNING THE 2016 PHILADELPHIA MARATHON IN SUPPORT OF MATERNAL HEALTH AROUND THE WORLD. Hundreds of thousands of women die during pregnancy and childbirth each year. That's 800 women every day. Right here in the United States 2 women every day die from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. The good news is that 98% of these deaths can be prevented. We have the tools and the know-how to save these mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, teachers, doctors, caregivers and community leaders—if we make it a priority.
Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. We inform, engage, and mobilize new audiences to take actions and raise funds that support maternal health programs around the world.
This year, join us in solidarity to run the 2016 Philadelphia Marathon and continue raising awareness about this global tragedy. We've chosen to participate in the race because often distance is the biggest barrier to a woman and her family getting the care they need. We hope to not only increase awareness for the cause but to also make the vital connection for people that so many pregnant women live far from health services around the world and that distance does make a difference. Simply put, we want to run so that others don't have to... And now, we're hoping you will lend your support no matter how big or small.
