I'm running the Chinatown 5K for Project:VISION again! PV is a youth tutoring and community service nonprofit serving the Chinatown and Bridgeport communities. It's a great organization which I've been involved with for the past 2.5 years, and I'm very excited to run. It's also my third (!) 5K since high school so that should be entertaining too :)
I'd love if you guys could help support my run by donating to this great cause. My goal is to raise $888--8 is a lucky number in Chinese after all! To further stir the pot, I will match up to $388 of any donations made. Thank you in advance!
Project:VISION has done a ton to help low-income, disadvantaged students in the Chinatown and Bridgeport communities. 80% of our students are from low-income, first-generation immigrant families, while 70% will be the first in their families to attend college.
From this base, we've helped 90% of our students achieve GPAs above 3.0, 70% of our students improve their ACT scores by over 2 points, and 75% of our students volunteer in the community. In fact, our success has helped our budget grow 25% each year for the past four years, with support from leading organizations such as United Way and Exelon.
I wholeheartedly appreciate any support you provide, whether by donating a few dollars here, coming to the race to cheer us on, or even volunteering with Project:VISION. Thank you in advance!
