The Titan Solar Car Team is an award-winning, learner-led, innovative organization that fundraises and builds Cars powered by the sun. This team participates in the Solar Car Challenge, a national competition where high schools from across the nation race full-size, solar powered cars. Last season, was the Titan Solar Car Team's first year to participate in the challenge. Our team drove cross-country from Fort Worth, TX to Minneapolis, MN in a road- worthy, solar powered, electric vehicle. The Titan Solar Car Team successfully drove over 229 miles, securing the Solar EV National Championship. Through numerous experiences in the six-week build season, and the ten-day race, the team developed invaluable skill sets. In this new season, our objective is to build a new and innovative car for the electric-solar powered division - the division we completed previously- learn and overcome from failure, and train a new generation to add upon the success and experience of our team. Our goal as a team is to persevere as a team and family and to strive for beyond what’s possible.
Plano ISD Academy High School, a project-based learning interdisciplinary learning environment, is home to the Titan Solar Car Team. The culture at Academy High contributes to an open mindset in regards to learning. The culture of the community also fosters the startup mindset our team has. Every meeting, the team works as a small company that helps grows team members’ skills from PVC pipes to paperwork.
To continue and build on to the skills and achievement we have made the previous year, our team requires a new round of funding. This year, the new car will have enhanced telemetric features, a sleek aerodynamic body, and a brushless motor. Our team is looking at sources of funding and financial help from the community. A contribution to this one-of-a-kind engineering endeavor -501(c)3
tax-exempt booster club-is vital for sustaining this organization.
