BENEFITING: SHE'S THE FIRST
EVENT DATE: Apr 10, 2016
By signing up to Walk the World with us, you'll be pledging to walk 10,000 steps a day (if you are able)* in solidarity with girls around the world who face obstacles as they seek an education. We'll use pedometers or smartphone apps to track our steps each day. You can sign up with a personalized online fundraising page that you can share with friends and family who are interested in supporting your journey.
Walk the World Week is from April 10-17, but you can start fundraising as soon as possible and we won't close the fundraiser until April 30. Along the way, we'll help your step count with a Glow Walk on the National Mall to open the week on April 10th and a 5 miles 5 girls run to end the week on April 17th.
We host this fundraiser as part of the Sweat for STF campaign that celebrates using fitness and fundraising to fight for educational equality around the globe. Every single $ goes straight towards scholarships for girls' education in low-income countries around the globe. You can find out more about our scholars at shesthefirst.org and stfamerican.wordpress.com.
**If you are not physically able to walk in solidarity (or maybe you cannot meet the 10,000 steps), you are still welcome to sign up and fundraise! You are also welcome to come to the 5 Miles 5 Girls race on April 17th where there will be benches and seating available to audience members supporting the cause! Even if you are physically able, you are not required to run/sign up to walk in this particular event.
