This summer on August 6th and 7th, I will bike 192 miles, in the largest fundraiser in the country. 100% of the money raised from the Pan-Mass Challenge is donated to the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Foundation. I am proud to be part of the Boston Bruins Foundation team! The Boston Bruins Foundation is a non-profit organization that assists charitable organizations that are committed to enhancing the quality of life for children throughout New England.
I eagerly & selfishly decided to do this race because it’s been on my bucket list. Then I met Cian, our team pedal partner. Cian is a 4 year old little boy who battled cancer and won. I am a mum of 3, talking with Cian's mother was difficult for me. I could feel her courage & see how grateful she is for every minute of every day she has with her son. The feelings I have are more than I could ever put into words. The money that is raised by our team raises hopes and dreams for so many families like Cian’s. This race is so much more than a “check” on my bucket list. I am lucky to have a healthy body that can pedal 192 miles. I am grateful to have a healthy husband & 3 healthy kids. I am filled to the brim with gratitude for all of you.
I am riding for my friends and family that have fought: Marianne, Steph, Alberta, Carmen, Jason, Craig, Auntie Gerry, Maria, Gabby, Big Bill, Auntie Mary, Auntie Lois, Nick, Papa John, Deb, and my Auntie Jo, who is currently fighting stage 3 lung cancer. I am riding for your friends and family that have fought and are fighting. Love you. Cancer sucks.
