What I love about the Framingham History Center's vision of "Fostering Community by Preserving History" is how genuine it is. My parents are a good example of this. Having emigrated from Manchester, England to Boston, my parents eventually took the leap to move to the suburbs. Moving to Framingham, they met a community of people sharing the experience of coming from a great distance. The incredible welcoming atmosphere that Framingham promotes led to this overall sense of community that has stayed with them in their continued friendships.
And you know what? My parents havn't left since. It's been around thirty-two years and The Framingham History Center has a lot to do with that decision.
One of my fondest memories from elementary school is visiting the history center. The enormously beautiful stone building, towering over my classmates and I, was densely packed with artifacts and stories of the town and families living there before us. I was fortunate to grow up in a community rich with history. From the stonewall work in my backyard to seeing the placards on historical buildings en route to school; Framingham's history is omnipresent.
I am honored to be running with and for such a dedicated non-profit committed to providing education and community growth.
