BENEFITING: JACOBS COLOR LINK INITIATIVE INC
campJacob is an annual retreat offered to youth with disabilities in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Campers travel to a resort on the northern coast of Haiti for a week of holistic therapies and programming designed to develop life skills, self-esteem and self advocacy.
campJacob removes the barriers of the campers' day-to-day lives that are restricted due to lack of accessibility, social stigma and funding. The camp experience provides life skills & self-care training that builds confidence and inspires the youth toward a life of independence. Following camp, we work with the youth year-round to ensure the skills they have learned are being further developed and applied in their daily lives. The medical programming offered provides much needed physical and occupational therapy, setting the groundwork for independent living.
JCLI counselor/volunteers travel to Haiti from the United States and host campJacob over 7 days. Each counselor/volunteer is required to fundraise a minimum of $2,800 USD to cover their travel and accommodation expenses. We ask that each volunteer counselor raise as much funding as possible. The more funding we raise collectively, the more children we are able to invite.
