This July I will be doing a week-long backpacking trip with teens from the I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder (www.ihadboulder.org) near the Oh Be Joyful Pass Area outside of Crested Butte, CO. This trip will give me a chance to share my love for the outdoors and the many lessons of backpacking with some very deserving kids.
The mission of Big City Mountaineers is to transform the lives of underprivileged urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions. Many of these kids have probably never been out into the mountains, and will not only be experiencing the beauty of the wilderness for the first time, but also be learning valuable life skills along the way. This week will focus on teaching these kids the importance of decision-making, determination, teamwork, and most of all having fun!
If you know anything about me, you probably know that this is something that's very important to me and something I'm extremely excited about. If you would like to help support me and Big City Mountaineers I would greatly appreciate it, but most importantly, the teens that will be experiencing their first backpacking trip will surely be grateful.
All I am asking is that you contribute $5 to this great cause. The same $5 that you would buy a coffee with can make a difference in these kids' lives. Or if this is something that resonates more strongly with you I'd encourage you to consider a larger donation and/or to get involved by volunteering with Big City Mountaineers. This truly is an amazing organization and I am absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity.
Thank you for your consideration!
