BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
I am running in memory of my mom, Mary Hill, and for those still fighting including my cousin Kari Ann, my friend Vicki, and my running friends Felicia and Michelle - all of who have fought or are fighting and winning the battle.
My mom was an amazing person who loved everyone. Those of you who knew her know that personally, and hopefully those of you who know her only through me have seen that too. I run to honor her memory. I run to help others keep their loved ones longer.
I chose this charity because they focus on healthy living and early detection, which are soooo important in the battle against breast cancer. While there are no confirmed causal links (that I am aware of) between obesity, yo-yo dieting, and unhealthy living - there are many correlations that have been found - which is one of the reasons I chose to start running and trying to be more active.
Bright Pink also focus on early detection. My mom admitted she was scared and she put off going to the doctor. My cousin and my friends all found their cancer early, and are winning their battles. No one can know for sure, but maybe my mom would have had a better chance if she had tackled it head on knowing that early detection is so key.
We have learned so much in the 10 years since my mom passed, and we continue to learn more. This charity is all about spreading the word on what we have learned and helping people avoid (if possible) and if not treat and SURVIVE cancer by finding and fighting early.
This is very near and dear to my heart, and I think the programs this charity provides are wonderful.
Thank you in advance for supporting me!

In 2016, runners competing in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon will rally together to raise over $200,000 for charity partner Bright Pink. $200,000 has the power to educate and potentially save the lives of nearly 50,000 young women through Bright Pink’s educational programs.
We run our for our moms, our sisters, our friends… ourselves. We believe the women we love deserve a world free from breast and ovarian cancer. Join us on this mission to save women’s lives.
