BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
In 2015, Liz ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with Bright Pink. She worked hard all summer, training and fundraising, bugging everyone she knew to donate, run with her, or bike along side of her while she ran. On the day of the marathon, Liz and Kai woke up at 4:45 am and made the journey down to Millennium Park. Liz continued on towards the start line while Kai headed towards the first mile marker to watch!
Throughout the marathon, Liz was running on the course and Kai was running all over Chicago trying to stay ahead of the girls running for Bright Pink so that they could cheer on Kristina, Vanessa, Christina, Meg, Kayla and Liz. After what seemed like forever, Liz finally crossed the finish line and Kai ran up to her and informed her that they would be running together next year. Liz laughed and told him that he was insane and that she was never running again for the rest of her life, but here we are now!
It was an easy decision to decide to run and funraise for Bright Pink again. We both got to see how the organization directly helped and positively impacted close friends and we are continuously inspired by the strength and awesomeness of these ladies.
Bright Pink raises funds to educate, create self assessment tools and help support thousands of young women regarding breast and ovarian cancer. 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer and 1 in 67 women will develop ovarian cancer in her lifetime. Funds raised will help women assess the risk of breast and ovarian cancer, spread educational materials, set up workshops on early detection and prevention and so much more!
Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help Bright Pink and us to cross the finish line at the Chicago Marathon!
