BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
Hello Friends and Fam!
This is my third year in a row running the Chicago Marathon for Bright Pink and I am excited to help spread the word about this great organization and hopefully set a personal best time in the race (third time is a charm I hear)! This year I am lucky to be joined by two great friends - Michael and Lisa Pelehach. Check out their pages too if you find a moment!
As many of you know, both my aunt and mother passed away from breast cancer while I was attending undergrad. It was really difficult for me to lose two amazing women in my life and I was lucky enough to find a way to give back last year and will be doing it again this year with Bright Pink!
One reason Bright Pink appeals to me so much as an organization is that they provide rescources and help for women who have or may have a genetic risk of breast cancer, something that is within my family. My own mom could have benefitted from the services Bright Pink provides - she considered a preventive mastectomy but was told the procedure wouldn't be covered by insurance, even though her family had a history of breast cancer. I am hoping to spread awareness to other young women so they can be educated about their risks of both breast and ovarian cancer.
If you can't make a donation at this point that is totally ok! Another way that you can help me reach my goal is by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter! Alternatively, spread the word to others about Bright Pink who you think may or could need their services.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks so much for your generosity!
