BENEFITING: National Multiple Sclerosis Society
In 2015, I entered a challenge to run 2015 miles and I completed around 1250. I signed up for the same challenge in 2016 and hope to finish ALL 2016 miles. I wondered what would help motivate me to complete the miles and thought that donating to a charity would be the perfect thing! So, I've decided to donate to the National MS Society on behalf of one of my closest friends, Sarah Olson!
Sarah, who is an ambassador for the National MS Society, and I met in 2010 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. That same year, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Sarah has to not only go to routine doctor visits, but also sometimes spontaneously has to go to the emergency room. Outside of these, she also runs into other issues, such as dietary problems/restrictions, and she also sometimes uses a device called a Bioness to help her walk. However, through all of this, she remains the most upbeat and optimistic person I've ever met! She is always smiling and finds the positives in every situation. I don't know how she does it, but she is an inspiration! It certainly makes me think twice when I complain about a cold. She is determined to push through anything life throws at her. A couple years ago she had to use a walker. After several physical therapy visits she is now able to run and is training to run a 5K with me on January 16, 2016! I hope it is the first of many.
Please help me reach my personal goal of completing 2016 miles in 2016 by pledging per-mile to reach my fundraising goal of $5,000! Every donation gets us closer to a cure for MS. No donation is too small - even a penny per mile would total to $20.16 if all 2016 miles are completed! I will also be running the 2016 Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2016, for which I have a fundraising goal of $1,000. Please consider donating for the marathon as well! These are flat donations, as it has a deadline prior to the end of the year. The page for the marathon can be found here ( https://www.crowdrise.com/2016chicagomarathonf ). If you would like to make a one-time donation only instead of pledging per-mile, please utilize the Chicago Marathon page!
If you are in the Houston area, please stay tuned for local events, walks, and fundraisers put on by Miss Sarah herself! Also, check out my Facebook page for updates and to follow along the journey!
