BENEFITING: NON-PROFIT TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE NETWORK
ORGANIZER: NON-PROFIT TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE NETWORK
We met at the 2015 Nonprofit Technology Conference, kept in touch over Twitter, and met again at the 2015 Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Conference. Read on to find out why we're supporting NTEN.
Why Katie Supports NTEN:
Face it: I'm a Millennial, and I love technology. But, I didn't realize the full power technology could play in work towards reaching various nonprofit missions until I met NTEN. The Nonprofit Technology Network - through humor, real-world examples, and genuine compassion, has given me the knowledge and tools to reach and engage new audiences on causes that touch their hearts.
Too often, technology remains in the hands of certain sectors of our society. It's our duty to create a more equitable digital playing field, and NTEN is committed to achieving that vision. This requires us to ensure more nonprofit professionals have the opportunity to take advantage of the learnings and events NTEN hosts - whether in-person or online.
Scholarships are a crucial piece of the equity equation. I am asking my friends and colleagues to support NTEN's mission of increasing the amount of financial assistance it can offer to nonprofit professionals so all of us can more effectively utilize technology to make our world a better place for all people.
Why Liza Supports NTEN:
First words that come to mind when I think of NTEN? Connection and community. These words may seem overused in today’s social media world, but to an introvert like myself, they’re not always easy to find.
I learned about NTEN through someone I met on Twitter who, a while later, wound up working at NTEN (hi Bethany!). We chatted about volunteer engagement and PDX Tech4Good and more. At some point I learned about NTEN and I was intrigued but not yet hooked. Even though I loved technology and social media, I thought it wasn’t really a place for someone in the field of Volunteer Management. Long story short, I was so wrong! I began to see how tech was in everything I did at work and in my professional organizations. I haven't looked back since.
There’s always more to learn from people who have different skills and experiences and NTEN harnesses that people power to create community through connection. Online and off.

At NTEN, we believe technology can revolutionize social change.
From our Digital Inclusion Fellowship and annual Nonprofit Technology Conference, to our webinars and Nonprofit Tech Academy, we empower and equip over 70,000 individuals in the NTEN community each year with the networking and technology resources they need to effectively carry out their work.
But we know even more social-impact organizations need support in using technology.
The list of tech tools and tactics is constantly growing and can be overwhelming. So each year we work with our community---our Champions---to raise money that will ensure that nonprofits can access the resources, events, and community they need to make smart choices in technology.
Our Champions and donors embody the power and spirit of the nonprofit technology community.
A good community is hard to find, and that’s what makes NTEN truly special -- the community’s commitment to helping each other do the best work they can to change the world.
This season, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $25,000. With this $25,000, you help NTEN:
- Bring in new members that may not be able to cover the cost of NTEN Membership
- Ensure a diverse range of organizations can attend the NTC through scholarships
- Support our worldwide Tech Clubs with more materials to enhance their experience
- Develop new programs and resources for NTEN’s growing community
It takes a community to raise a nonprofit! Please donate today to help NTEN build a stronger network of nonprofit professionals that do more with less by leveraging technology to support their work. To donate directly through NTEN's website, visit www.nten.org/donate.
