Calling all mothers, runners, mother-lovers, friends and family... please join me in raising funds and awareness for a cause that I am deeply passionate about.
EVERY MOTHER COUNTS! Hundreds of thousands of women die during pregnancy and childbirth each year. That's 800 women every day. The good news is that 98% of these deaths can be prevented. We have the tools and the know-how to save these mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, teachers, doctors, caregivers and community leaders—if we make it a priority. Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. EMC informs, engages, and mobilizes new audiences to take actions and raise funds that support maternal health programs around the world.
I will be running in the 2016 Outer Banks Half Marathon on Sunday, November 8th, 2015 to continue raising awareness about this global tragedy. This will be my seventh half marathon, but I am beyond excited to finally be running for something greater than myself. What does running have to do with maternal health? Distance is one of the biggest barriers for women and their families getting the care they need-- women often walk anywhere from 5-30 kilometers to access critical care. I hope to not only increase awareness for the cause but to also make the vital connection for people that so many pregnant women live far from health services around the world and that distance does make a difference.
Simply put, I want to run so that others don't have to... And now, I'm hoping you will lend your support no matter how big or small.
When you donate, 100% of your donation goes directly to support maternal health programs on the ground. Here are some ways you can get involved.
