Who Have We Helped?

"I am writing to express my continued gratitude for your scholarship. I am currently a junior at Brown University studying chemical biology and researching organic synthesis of antimicrobial molecules in the Chemistry Department with the Sello Lab. A few of the groups I am dedicated to include the Residential Peer Leader program, New Scientist Pals mentoring for underrepresented students in the sciences, and Vietnamese Students Association.

I was a recipient of the Women's Chamber Foundation Scholarship in 2012. The scholarship certainly helped me during my first semester at Brown when instead of worrying about getting a job, I focused on adjusting to the fast-paced and dynamic environment of college. I definitely needed that time to adjust as I found that studying in college is much different than studying in high school. Furthermore, I did not believe that I belonged at a prestigious institution like Brown, coming from public high school and low-income background. Focusing on my studies without having to worry how I would pay for text books or personal items helped me to get grades competitive with that of my peers and pushed me to believe that I did deserve the education that I was receiving.

I would like to thank you again for your generosity and I hope that in the future the Women's Chamber Foundation Scholarship will be able to continue to help women in their college endeavors."

2012 Recipient / Jeannie  / Brown University

I’m thankful for receiving this award as it has allowed me to pursue a college education that will allow me to engage in a successful career and explore new passions. ... I feel blessed to have received this scholarship, as it has made all of this possible. The WCF scholarship has reduced the financial burden that higher education endows upon middle-class families like mine.

2014 Recipient / Rachel / Colorado College

WCF supported and believed in me.

Going into college I wouldn’t have owned a computer without WCF or had financial support to pay for classes.

2012 & 2014 Recipient / Simone / University of Florida

It seems impossible to have finished freshman year so soon, and yet have experienced so much in such a short time.  I've been challenged academically...I've brought science lessons to sixth grade students in metro schools...made friends from all over the U.S. and abroad... survived an ice storm...But most of all, I've realized how fortunate I am ...I would not be where I am today without you.

2013 Recipient / Jennifer / Vanderbilt University
