Support Raising Update - Less than $250 away from $70,000
April 09, 2018
From September 2017 to July 2018, 34 young adults will move to Pittsburgh to join PULSE. PULSE cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh.
PULSE Participants live in intentional community with one another in Pittsburgh neighborhoods, serve 35-hours a week at a Pittsburgh nonprofit organization, and take part in ongoing training and development to deepen their skills as a serving leader.
Over the last 23 years, over 250 young adults have partnered with over 125 Pittsburgh nonprofits, contributing some 400,000 hours of service to the city and its residents. PULSE Participants have started community centers, community gardens, bike co-ops, and have beautified spaces in Pittsburgh. They learn the value of living simply in community with each other and their neighbors. They have made significant contributions to expanding the capacity of the nonprofit sector in Pittsburgh.
Each PULSE Participant has been asked to help raise $2,500 to assist with their housing, food, transportation, and education while in the PULSE program. As a group, they hope to raise $85,000 together.
Here are some examples of how the funds raised will be used: $25 - Feed a PULSEr - purchase supplies to help PULSErs grow their own food $50 - Teach a PULSEr - seminar and retreat materials to grow and develop as leaders $100 - Equip a PULSEr - cultural funds to explore the city, take a class and learn $250 - House a PULSEr - help provide shelter and build community within PULSE
