BENEFITING: YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2017
Help us raise funds to support the YMCA of Metro Detroit's Detroit Swims program, teaching at risk children to swim in the Metro Detroit area.
Our Goal: To teach at least 1,500 at risk youth from the Metropolitan Detroit area to swim each and every year!
$100 will give one child eight swims lessons, a swimsuit, swim cap and goggles, and a lifetime of confidence and safety in the water.
MICSA swim team clubs are competing against each other - the team that raises the most support wins the 2017 Corsan Challenge award and a swim clinic conducted by Olympic Gold Medalist Peter Vanderkaay and guest!
Who is George Corsan? He's kind of a big deal...ask Google! He's a Y staff member who developed the first formalized group some lessons in Detroit in 1909.
We only have 30 days to reach our goal. Last year, we were able to scholarship 210 kids through this challenge, and this year, we think that we can scholarship 230!
The competition ends June 30th at 11:59pm EST, with the winning team receiving a clinic from Peter Vanderkaay and guest! The award will be presented at the final day of the championship Meet! Thank you MICSA clubs for your continued support of Detroit Swims!
