BENEFITING: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
EVENT DATE: Jun 19, 2017
Golf Fights Cancer's 9th Annual Golf Marathon will be held at Juniper Hill Golf Course (36 hole facility) in Northboro, MA. What is a golf marathon? An unbelievable day of camaraderie, golf, and great memories where 50+ golfers of all skill levels are sponsored to play 100 holes of golf in one day, raising over $150,000 collectively to positively impact the life of cancer patients.
This year, GFC is excited to partner with Family Reach to fund a pilot program at Tufts Medical Center called 'The Financial Treatment Project.' Here, families of both pediatric and breast cancer patients are provided personalized financial navigation and coaching, financial assistance, and education/awareness.
Did you know:
- Cancer patients are 2.65 times more likely to go bankrupt than people without cancer.
- Patients who experience financial toxicity are less likely to adhere to treatment, maintain a poorer quality of life, and have a reduced chance of overall survival.
- 46% cut back on basic necessities to pay for cancer care, with many skipping medication and missing treatment to save money.
The Financial Treatment Project addresses every aspect of this problem, providing families with the resources and support they need to maintain their whole financial health while they fight cancer.
