Heights Arts 2017 Haiku Death Match
Celebrate National Poetry Month and help choose the 2017 Haiku Death Match winner!
Heights Arts presents the Haiku Death Match on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Now an annual event, the Haiku Death match pits the region’s best and bravest writers of the meditative, 17-syllable form against each other in a contest for the title of Haiku Death Match Master. It’s poetry, theatre, talent show, and a jousting match rolled into one. The audience votes for the poems they like best, contestants are eliminated, and the last poet standing is the winner! This year, contestants will display their skill with classical, nature-oriented Haiku and with Haiku on contemporary subjects, such as politics, pets, and all things Cleveland.
This year, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE by voting for your favorite contestant through a donation to the cause. In doing so, you will help Heights Arts raise money to support our Poet Laureate program and Ekphrastcy series, in which Cleveland-area writers are invited to view installed artworks during our exhibitions and respond with a poem. Don't have a favorite? You can still support us by donating to the campaign and / or buying tickets!
Contribute $10 or more for warrior support and automatically qualify for the Heights Arts member ticket fee ($5 savings).
Contribute $25 or more and receive a copy of the winning haiku poem suitable for framing.
Contribute $100 or more and receive that winning poem personalized and signed by the 2017 Death Match Champion.
Contributors of $200 or more will receive a chapbook of poems from each of four current and past Poets Laureate.

The show begins at 7 p.m. at Dobama Theater, 2340 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or on line at www.heightsarts.org.
