It's that time of year again - for our fourth annual RSVP Bike Ride for Dwankhozi Hope! A terrific team of riders is tackling the 188 miles from Seattle to Vancouver, BC on bikes to raise support for Dwankhozi Hope, and the empowering, life-changing work that happening across the Atlantic in Zambia.
Our terrific team of riders this year includes:
Dwankhozi Hope is a nonprofit organization based in Seattle, WA that strives to empower the children & families of Zambia through partnership in education & community development, recognizing our interconnectedness as we seek mutual transformation. At the center of this partnership is Dwankhozi Community School, where over 600 students in grades 1-9 come each day to learn and further their education. And since 2015, Dwankhozi Community School also includes an additional 100+ students in grades 10-12!
In rural Zambia the need for education is great, but the public resources to support schools are not. The school began over 10 years ago thanks to the Dwankhozi community's passionate adults who came together to form a PTA and supply volunteer teachers so their children could have a better chance at an education and a future. Since then, we have expanded our involvement and support to launch adult classes, improve economic development opportunities, and address health needs. We continue to look to the community for direction on what needs are greatest how we go about meeting them together. Learn more about Dwankhozi Hope here.
This year's riders are raising money for Dwankhozi Hope, specifically to help fund projects aimed at women's empowerment and education. We have long had a focus on helping women and girls improve literacy, progress further on their educational track, and build practical skills to support themselves, their families, and their community.
