WE DID IT!!!
March 22, 2017
BENEFITING: HERREN PROJECT
ORGANIZER: HERREN PROJECT
EVENT DATE: Mar 19, 2017
On September 12, 2016, the world lost an amazing human being. Anand Mehta, who was both a good friend and colleague, passed away at age 31 from a suspected drug overdose.
Anand made friends easily wherever he went due to his genuine nature and wonderful personality. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and coworkers. His shocking death has raised many questions about his struggle with addiction and what could have been done to prevent it. Sadly, his story has become increasingly common as an alarming number of people in the US are dying from opiate overdoses each year.
In order to do something positive to memorialize Anand and help those who struggle with substance abuse get effective treatment to overcome their addiction, I've chosen to run in the NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 19th, 2017 and raise funds for The Herren Project (THP) team. You can read more about THP below or at www.theherrenproject.org.
By making a donation, or passing along this link to anyone who would like to contribute, you can help others to recover from addiction and move forward with their lives.
P.S. - ESPN produced a great 30 for 30 documentary about NBA star Chris Herren called, "Unguarded", which tells his story of going from a basketball prodigy to a heroin addict. Well worth watching:
