BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
I finally decided to run my first marathon not only for me but for reasons bigger than myself. I'm running the Chicago Marathon in memory of my dad, who unexpectedly passed away three years ago. I grew up as a runner alongside my dad and am running this race since he cannot. I also run for my family; the BRCA2 gene runs on my dad's side, and we lost two amazing women in 2015 to breast and ovarian cancer. I run so no woman has to hear they have cancer.
And since we're not there yet, I'm fundraising for Bright Pink, an organization focused on early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. The running team will rally together to raise over $200,000, which has the power to educate and potentially save the lives of nearly 80,000 young women through Bright Pink’s educational programs. Join me to save lives.
