Hooter's Story Shawn "Hooter" Hildenbrand was first diagnosed with brain cancer in November 2007, at just 29 years old. His first battle involved brain surgery, followed by an intense mix of radiation and chemo. After nearly a year of treatments, it looked like he had won his battle! He remained in remission for the next 5 years, making the most of his new lease on life. He spent every waking moment doing what he loved with the people he loved. But in May 2013 the cancer was back with a vengeance. He spent the next year and a half fighting, with two more surgeries and numerous radiation and chemo attempts. By September 2014, it was apparent that he was no longer responding to treatments. After consulting with 4 different hospitals, he made the difficult decision to discontinue all treatments and spend the rest of his days at home with his family and friends by his side. On January 5th, 2015, Hooter lost his 7 year battle with brain cancer.
