Dear Friends and Family,
We are reaching out to request your support for this very meaningful event. Ride for the Living is a 55-mile bike ride from Auschwitz-Birkenau to the Jewish Community Centre (JCC) of Krakow in honor of the Polish Jewish community. It’s both a memorial and celebration of survival.
Last summer we traveled to Poland for 3 weeks to explore our heritage, and especially to seek out the roots of Gali’s family from the villages of Eastern Poland. While in Krakow, we met Jonathan, the Director of the JCC who told us about Ride For The Living. We were deeply moved by this celebration of life and we decided to return and participate in this significant event.
We ride in honor and memory of Gali’s dear grandparents, who miraculously survived the Shoah. Luba and Abraham Moises Waserstein escaped just before the war to Cuba. Bela and Kalman Goldwaser hid throughout the war and settled in Israel. We will be thinking of them, honoring those who survive today, and all people affected by war and genocide.
Please support the perseverance of Jewish culture in Poland by making a donation to this fundraiser. All donations go directly to the JCC and are tax deductable. You will immediately receive a receipt from the JCC. Click here to view our personalized page: https://www.crowdrise.com/galigoldwaser#projects.
