Peru. I first fell in love with this country in 2006, when I embarked on what was arguably the toughest job I'll ever love - joining the Peace Corps. Spending two years in this country opened my eyes to so much, and my life will never be the same.
As a child, I loved the Olympics. My dream was to be an Olympian. Realizing that would most likely never happen, I made it my personal goal - to run a marathon (or half marathon) in every Summer Olympic city. I've completed Athens, Paris, and St. Louis (1896, 1900, and 1904, respectively). My next destination takes me to London. My love for the Olympics collided with my love for Peru, when I found that I could not only attempt to run the London Marathon, but also help raise funds for an organization that does work in the country I love - my second home - Peru.
Children of Peru is dedicated to building a better future for children in Peru. They raise funds to make grants to a select group of non-governmental organizations working in Peru to provide better healthcare and education for children.
