The Walk and Roll for PWS is a 5K walk started in 2011 to bring awareness to CT about a rare disease called Prader-Willi syndrome. PWS is a broad spectrum genetic disorder, affecting ability to thrive in infancy, cognitive, motor and speech development, muscle tone and bone development, hormonal balance and the individual's ability to regulate the most basic facets of life, like temperature, pain regulation and satiety (the ability to feel full after eating.) An inability to feel satiated after eating can lead to lifelong obesity related health issues and even death due to complications like stomach rupture. PWS affects many families in our state and beyond. Our network of amazing families has chosen to make the future of our children a different one, through this event we are able to raise awareness and fundraise for treatments, support, and education. With your help you can make our dream of change a reality.
