Thank you for supporting our 3rd Annual Walk in Her Shoes, all proceeds raised will help support the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC) is a locally run charitable organisation that was established in early 2003. It is the only safe haven for abused women and their children in the Cayman Islands and largely relies on the community for financial support. CICC provides rehabilitation for victims of domestic abuse, so that they are better equipped to provide for themselves and their families. CICC is looking to build a bigger shelter in the next five years and money raised from this event will help in the day to day activities for the upkeep as well as help to fund a new shelter in the coming years.
It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it’s fun and it gets the community to talk about and raise awareness of something that’s really difficult to talk about: gender relations and violence against women. We hope to raise awareness, funds, and laughter.
This year is our 15th anniversary and we are encouraging 15 for 15! Individuals are encouraged to raise $1,500 and teams are encouraged to raise $15,000. With support like this we can reach our goal of $100,000!
For every $100 USD raised in sponsorship, one lap is deducted (all men or teams of men will walk a minimum of one lap, no matter the amount raised). There will be an aide station along the course.
Registration is easy. Click on the START MY FUNDRAISER or BECOME PART OF TEAM button to sign up and create your personal fundraiser page. Email the link to your fundraiser page to your friends, family and co-workers asking them to donate. That's it! 100% of the funds raised online will go to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
For any men looking to find a pair of high heels go to the No. 1 Shoe Shop, if you mention the "A Walk in her Shoes" event to support the Crisis Centre and you will get 10% off your high heels. They offer up to size 12 in womens shoes. Quantities are limited so don't wait!
There will be prizes for best walk and best shoes! We are also highly encouraging gentlemen who are participating to get your feet ready by checking out Man Cave!
The race will start at 6:00, all men will walk the first lap, no matter the amount raised.
