The Story

EVENT DATE: Aug 25, 2018

2017 was a success! With our fundraising efforts, we have helped over 90 families in Anacortes who have a family member battling cancer.  Lets do it again!

The Anacortes Cancer Walk is a one day walk beginning and ending at Seafarers Memorial Building in Anacortes, Washington.

Beginning at 1:00 pm, our route will be 10 miles.  You can walk one mile of this, or walk all 10!  Snacks, drinks, live music will welcome you at the finish line.  All registered walkers will get food & a beverage of their choice at the finish line.

In lieu of charging a fee for our event, we are asking that each participant make a minimum of $25.00 tax-deductible donation to the cause. As this is a fundraising event with the purpose of benefitting the Merle Cancer Care Center at Island Hospital in Anacortes, our hope is that you will be able to fundraise a suggested amount of $100 a person. 

A one day walk with celebration party following at Seafarers Memorial Building. Live music, silent auction, food & drink! 100% of the proceeds go to the Merle Cancer Care Center at Island Hospital in Anacortes.

1:00pm - Arrive at Seafarers for day of sign ups, warm ups, & to write on your anchors

1:30pm - Brief opening ceremony

2:00pm - Begin our walk

4:00pm-5:00pm - Finish line at Seafarers

5:00pm - Food/drink, silent auction/raffle, live music!

9:00pm - It's a wrap! :)

 

The registration/fundraising site is automatically linked to the Island Hospital Foundation. The site will send monthly checks to the Foundation who will then write a check to the Merle Cancer Care Center in Anacortes.

100% of the proceeds from this walk will go to the Merle Cancer Care Center at Island Hospital in Anacortes.

The Merle Cancer Care Center Medical Relief Fund is an assistance fund that provides $300.00 per patient for any medical related cost such as medical supplies, medications, uncovered medical bills, transportation or fuel costs to make appointments, etc. Patients are made aware of the fund when they meet with staff on diagnosis. There is no proof of need required. Our mission is to take some stress away at a very stressful time by meeting a financial need.
