2018 CT Walks for Haiti
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2018
On April 21, 2018 CT Walks for Haiti will sponsor its 9th annual 2.5 mile walkathon through West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Everybody's favorite weatherman Joe Furey will join us for a festival of Haitian food, crafts, music and a silent auction featuring an awesome Red Sox package! Festivities begin at 10:30 and the walk starts at noon at St. Peter Claver located at 47 Pleasant St, West Hartford, CT 06107. This event raises money for six well-established 501(c)(3) Haitian charities. We hope to fund these projects:
Haitian Health Foundation-$5,000 to address the increased food insecurity in Jeremie since Hurricane Matthew.
Medical Aid to Haiti-$5,000 to fund two month's supply of medications for the clinic pharmacy in Port-au-Prince.
Haitian Humanitarian Network-$5,000 for supplies to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Matthew.
Outreach to Haiti-$5,000 to pay the annual salary for a trained community Health Agent.
Operation Unisson: $5,000 to fund critical health education for vulnerable Haitian children during summer camp.
Camp Hispaniola: $5,000 to buy food to feed 463 campers, 60 counselors and 8 cooks for 10 days.
