The Story

EVENT DATE: Jul 21, 2018

DEADLINE TO GIVE: Jul 20, 2018

Simply put, the Troutman Team Challenge is akin to a Flyathlon competition on steroids. In order to become a Troutman, and earn the coveted Troutman belt buckle, one must complete the following elements:

  1. Run at least a trail marathon (26.2 miles or more)…
  2. …with an elevation gain of more than 4,000 vertical feet…
  3. …and catch all four trout species of the Colorado Grand Slam (cutthroat, brook, brown, and rainbow)…
  4. …washing the entire adventure down with a Colorado craft beer greater than 12% ABV…
  5. …after raising $500 for coldwater conservation…
  6. …all within 12 hours (except the fundraising part).

While this challenge is all in good fun, the fundraising is the part that our Troutmen and Troutwomen are most serious about. The money that we raise through for Running Rivers through this challenge will be dedicated to projects on-the-ground in the public lands and public waters of SW Colorado. We will work with our conservation partners (Western Native Trout Initiative, Colorado Trout Unlimited) to identify important projects that benefit native trout in some meaningful way.

By donating to your Troutman / Troutwoman, you are helping them to tackle the most important portion of this challenge. The others elements are pretty challenging, but this is WHY we do it.

Thank you in advance for your contribution on behalf the wonderful Colorado places that make this sort of crazy outdoor adventure possible!
