Hi friends! For my 21st birthday, I decided to use the opportunity to give back to Tzu-Chi Foundation, a nonprofit that's near and dear to my heart. I've volunteered for them since I was a child and thought I'd finally be able to give back financially for my 21st birthday with the help of my awesome friends. Through Tzu Chi, I've volunteered at homeless shelters, raising money for disaster relief, passing out sustainable blankets and other supplies for the homeless in the winter, sang at nursing homes, etc. The people make the organization and really all have such kind hearts that make the organization what it is today.
Here's a description of what they do:
Tzu Chi Foundation or Tzu Chi (慈濟), literally "Compassionate Relief", is an international humanitarian organization and a prominent non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Taiwan with a special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
As a non-profit organization, Tzu Chi has built many hospitals and schools worldwide, including a network of medical facilities in Taiwan and an education system spanning from kindergarten through university and medical school. Schools were also rebuilt in the aftermath of earthquakes in Iran, China and Haiti. Oftentimes, Tzu Chi is the first nonprofit to arrive following many natural disasters around the world, providing relief and support to those who sometimes have lost everything.
