BENEFITING: Architecture for Humanity
EVENT DATE: Apr 03, 2011
On Sunday, April 3, I will be running my first half marathon! The More® Magazine | Fitness® Magazine Women's Half-Marathon takes place in beautiful Central Park, New York.
I am taking this opportunity to fund-raise for an organization I volunteer with, Architecture for Humanity. The all-volunteer New York chapter is active in the 5 boroughs with community based projects. Just some of the projects for this summer include a Concrete Canvas (outdoor mural for last summer's ArtFarm, a green community space in the Bronx), and Park Slope Women's Shelter. Find out more chapter and project information at www.afhny.org
On the global scale, Architecture for Humanity continues to tackle the need for design, construction and development services where they are needed most. Please check out the full range of projects and services AfH engages in on their website, www.architectureforhumanity.org
In light of recent events in Japan, Architecture for Humanity has set up a dedicated fund for reconstruction efforts and is working with the local Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto chapters for the long-term efforts. Donations made now will help in the reconstruction efforts later.
Please support my 21km run by making a donation to Architecture for Humanity today! You can also donate directly to the Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Fund at http://architectureforhumanity.org/programs/2011-sendai-earthquake-and-tsunami
You can continue to donate for 21 days after the race (one day for every kilometer to finish!). So help spread the word!
Thank you in advance for your time and generosity!
