BENEFITING: NEGU|Jessie Rees FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jan 11, 2015
One of the two causes in Bryan Campbell's 2 Obstacles 2 Races 2 Causes campaign, Joy Jars provides a large jar filled with toys and other surprises to children undergoing treatment for cancer at hospitals all across the country. The charity was born when 12-year-old Jessie Joy Rees was undergoing treatment for brain cancer and learned that not every child in the hospital where she was being treated had the same kind of support she did from her family and friends. She began packing jars of toys and other items for the kids at her hospital to help provide hope and encouragement to those children. Ultimately, cancer ended Jessie's life in 2012, but her legacy of sharing joy with children facing the hardest circumstances has spread across the world. Her family started the Jessie Joy Rees Foundation and that organization has now delivered more than 80,000 Joy Jars to children fighting cancer.
Jessie's motto of "Never Ever Give Up!" has become a battle cry for families facing cancer and finding hope to beat the disease. You can learn more about the foundation and Joy Jars at the Jessie Rees Foundation website.
