We are working on raising the money for our family to go the 22Q Texas Family Retreat, and we are asking for your support.
For those of you who do not know our daughter Rachel (4 years old) was diagnosed with a genetic disorder 22Q 11.2 deletion syndrome when she was 4 months old. Rachel has been through alot in four years
-She has had 12 surgical procedures
-She has been hospitalized well over 20 times
-She has had so many tests and procedures I lost count
-She has had over 35 chest X-rays she should glow in the dark at this point with all the radiation lol
-She has had over 10 therapists helping her along the way
-She has been through so much more then that but this gives you an idea
She is the happiest little girl in the whole world and she is a blessing to our family. It would be absolutely amazing if we could attend this family retreat for others with 22Q. We have only been able to do this one other time and it was AMAZING to meet other families going through similar things and this year we really want to go because we want Rachel to meet other kids just like her and we could really use the time away as a family to rest and learn more about what we can be doing to help Rachel more.
Would you be willing to sponsor our family? You can donate as little or as much as you want-- every penny adds up! If we exceed our goal, the funds will help other families who would otherwise be unable to attend.
Thank you so much for considering to help sponsor our family so we can spend time with others living with 22q.
Your support means a lot to us.
The annual 22Q Texas Retreat is a unique family experience. The 2016 retreat is Nov. 4-6 at Camp For All in Burton, TX.
What makes this retreat so special? When one person in a family faces a challenge it affects the whole family. This retreat provides a safe environment for those of us with 22Q and the families who love them. The weekend is often life-changing. For many it is the 1st time to meet another family affected by 22Q and the 1st time they realize they are not alone.
Kids participate in fun, challenging activities, building independence & confidence by doing things they thought were impossible.
Parents are empowered, educated and connected with a strong support system.
Families bond together and leave with renewed strength and hope. But all of this can only happen with the loyal & generous support of friends like you.
The retreat regularly draws more than 100 attendees from Texas and beyond. Retreat expenses for 2016 are expected to exceed $10,000. In years past, families have attended at little or no cost, with all meals, lodging & activities provided. This year families will be asked to pay $50 per person to attend the retreat. Many families are unable to pay this on their own.
Today we invite you to change lives by sponsoring a family. Your donation in any amount can sponsor a specific family you chose, or it can go to any family in need. Please help us make the retreat a reality for every person who wants to attend!
