Being a mother is hard work, being a mother to a special needs child becomes all-consuming all too easily. Not long after Connor was born with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, I knew I had to find time to focus on myself to avoid getting lost in the world of doctors, therapies, and surgeries. So I started running. Running became my outlet for my stress, it was my "me time", time to think or not think, time to just be alone.

I completed my first race, the Air Force Marathon 10K, in September of 2008 when Connor was 18 months old. I was hooked! In 2011 I branched out and tried an obstacle course race called Tough Mudder. What fun! In 2013 I added a Spartan Race to my resume. I've now completed three 10K races, 2 half marathons, 2 Tough Mudders, 1 Spartan, and countless 5K races.

I run for myself, I run for my family, and now I run for 22q awareness. Cheer me on as I spread awareness for 22q one mile at a time!"
