Hello everyone, with just 10 days left I wanted to write this update:
I just wanted to share with everyone why I want to do this. Lately I have been noticing the resources I take for granted everyday. My home, my guitars, being able to provide food for myself, and other basic necessities of our lives. The realization came to me that perhaps its time to start capitalizing on these resources. Then the Typhoon devastated the Philippines. Some of you may know that I was born there and still have family out there, but besides from being fortunate here in the States, I was also fortunate not to have my family members suffer through any damages. I have been volunteering for Christine Apa's 24 foundation for a few years now but one day after our last session she approached me briefly, "Hey Mark, what is your work schedule like? We are thinking of assembling a disaster relief team to help rebuilld some homes." It all clicked in my brain and in my heart that this team is something I wanted to be a part of. All my life I have been fortunate to receive help from family, friends, professors, musicians, sometimes strangers and instead of being trapped by constraints of leaving behind the life I take for granted everyday, all I wanted to do was say yes. I want to help. I can help. Help is hard to recieve and ask for, but we definitely need help during this fundraiser in order to hopefully project some positivity back into these victim's lives.
We will be working with an organization called the "Young Pioneer Tours" to rebuild homes and possibly be working on rebuilding the Bantayan Santa Fe elementary school. We will also be performing our 24 Foundation art as a form of healing program for some of the kids and teens on the island that have had to suffer losing their homes and valued goods.
Please help us, even if you can't donate please share this fundraiser page and help us spread awareness.

As many of you know about the disaster that Typhoon Haiyan caused mass destruction in the Philippines. Although there are many foreign relief efforts being sent to Tacloban, a few outlying islands are not receiving as much attention. We want to remedy that.
We, at The 24 Foundation plan to take a team of experienced volunteers to the Bantayan Island, located near the island of Cebu. This rural island has been devastated by Typhoon Haiyan and most of its residents are still without food, water, and adequate shelter. Disease and infection are spreading at alarming rates due to the constant rain and the inability to stay dry.
The 24 team, in partnership with The Peace Project and Bangon Bantayanons, will be rebuilding homes for the people of Santa Fe on Bantayan Island. We will also be doing a portion of our arts for healing program called CATALYST with the children of Bantayan. The arts program will be a way for the kids and teens to process their experience of the typhoon and the after effects of the disaster.
We are seeking donations to fund our trip and with the surplus, we would love to help the community with whatever their needs may be. From generators to crank operated flashlights, we will work closely with the local aid group of Bangon Bantayanons to help the people of Bantayan the best way possible. Our tentative date to leave is January 15th-Febuary 1st with 12 days focused on rebuilding and 2 days working with the children.
One of our goals is to raise $8,000 by December 10th so we can purchase our tickets and the rest by the time of our trip. We need your help to make this aid project a reality.
