Although I also give elsewhere, I Have a Dream Foundation - Los Angeles has been my primary focus for charitable giving since 2014. I have seen what they do up close and this is a very worthy charity.
The "I Have a Dream" Foundation - Los Angeles (IHADLA) strives to break the cycle of poverty by partnering with schools in the most underserved communities, and works with the students and families. IHADLA works with these students and their families for 10+ consecutive years, providing a long term program that serves the whole child through an all-emcompassing approach of academic, cultural, and socioemotional services. Established in 1987, IHADLA is the only long term program in the greater Los Angeles area.
These programs and services are offered year-round to the students we serve, also known as our "Dreamers", and are at no-cost to them or their families. Upon the completion of high school, up to $8,000 in scholarships are made available to each Dreamer that can be used for college
IHADLA currently works in 3 different cities within the greater Los Angeles area: Inglewood, Watts, and Boyle Heights.
The Foundation is requesting donations to reach our $25,000 match from the Bascom Group. The Bascom Group will match up to $25,000 of the funds raised through the end of 2015. However, donations do not have to stop at $25,000, as all funds will go toward supporting our programs and general operating costs to ensure our Dreamers are provided with the education and experiences to help them graduate from high school and go on to college.
ANY amount is greatly appreciated!
