25 scholarships in 25 hours
The Youth Leadership Foundation's (YLF's) summer programs are about to start, and 25 at-risk kids need your help!
YLF provides life-changing tutoring and mentoring services for D.C. kids. While 40 percent of D.C. kids drop out, 98 percent of YLF's students graduate high school and go to college.
But we need your help. We have 25 students who need scholarships to attend this summer's programs. The cost of a child to attend the programs is $225, so we need your help in raising $5,625.
Please help support 25 kids in 25 hours with a $25 gift.
The difference between these children continuing their education or becoming frustrated and dropping out is made possible through YLF’s programs and your generous gift. Donations are made easily by clicking to donate button.
Since 1997, YLF has served over 3,000 kids and the number continues to skyrocket through its Tenley Achievement Program (TAP) for boys and Program for Academic and Leadership Skills (PALS) for girls. Ed H, a YLF Alumni and a College Athlete said, “TAP helped stress to me the importance of academics first. It also helped improve my study habits and connected me with great people.
By being granted scholarships these children are exposed to new learning techniques, character building, and an appreciation for knowledge and academics.
“It takes a village to raise a child, and PALS is my village.” -Current student Deja S.
The Youth Leadership Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on the excellence of inner city youth. YLF empowers underserved youth in our Nation’s Capital to transform their lives through pursuing academic excellence, intensely focusing on character development, studying the value of virtues, and dedicating oneself to service. YLF provides “The Four Pillars of Success,” the unique teaching approach that includes a rigorous curriculum, personal mentoring, and integrated parental involvement necessary for young people to become future leaders to themselves, their families, and their communities. These youth are the future generation of America, and we must see this as an investment now in order to be confident that they will emerge as good and contributing citizens later. Through these fun but rigorous programs kids are able to achieve self-satisfaction completing tasks they would never have had the opportunity to do before.
