BENEFITING: Friends of Portland Community Gardens
EVENT DATE: Nov 10, 2011
"Having a community garden plot has really helped stretch our food budget and connected us to great people in our neighborhood. We love it!"
-Stan and Mary, two senior citizen community gardeners
Community gardens have been shown to be an effective means of addressing hunger, making it possible for families without garden space to grow their own affordable, healthy produce.
At the same time, the gardens build community, bringing neighbors together to work side-by-side and share in the adventure of bringing forth goodness from the earth.
The demand for community garden space far exceeds the supply. Currently, there are over 2000 people on the City of Portland's waiting list for a garden plot!
Our Goal: Raising 25 for 25
In honor of our 25th Anniversary, Friends of Portland Community Gardens has set a goal to raise $25,000 to help build new gardens. We hope you will be inspired to help us meet this goal and invite you to contribute as a supporter.
