Organized by: Michael Clegg
EVENT DATE May 21, 2015
What does it cost to transform your potential into the power to change your life? In 2005, unbeknownst to me, I began a journey to answer that exact question. When I was 14 years old, I was accepted in the Princeton University Preparatory Program (PUPP). The impact of PUPP on my life has been immeasurable. PUPP has served as a vehicle transporting me form Trenton, NJ to Occidental College and now, Harvard University. Each day, I work to embody their values, and to fulfill their mission of preparing high-achieving, low-income students for selective college success.
To celebrate my 25th birthday in May, I wanted to make it more than about myself. In the spirit of generosity and reciprocity, I wanted to celebrate this milestone in my life, by giving back to the organization that gave me the tools to expand my dreams beyond what I imagined possible: The Princeton University Preparatory Program.
Founded in 2001 by the Princeton University Program in Teacher Preparation, the Princeton University Preparatory Program (PUPP) is a rigorous, academic and cultural enrichment program that supports high-achieving, low-income high school students from local districts. PUPP scholars have attended and graduated from colleges including Princeton, Georgetown, Duke, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Occidental College, and Mount Holyoke just to name a few. As you can imagine such an amazing program comes at a significant financial cost.
I am asking those who are able, to contribute at $25 (or whatever you can spare) in honor of my birthday to support such a worthy organization. To get the ball rolling I’m donating the first $100. I will be asking for contributions until my birthday Thursday May 21st at 11:59PM. My goal is to raise $2500. Last year we raised over $3,000 so maybe we can beat that total! All donations are tax-deductible and you would receive a note from yours truly for your generous contribution. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
