EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
As many of you know our daughter Lilah Dee was born with a clubfoot. This came as a total surprise to us. Thankfully we were directed to a wonderful doctor who educated us and helped us understand that it is a correctable birth defect. The method he used is called the Ponseti Method which consists of using a series of casts, a special brace and no major surgeries. This treatment is over 95% effective.
Going through this process we have gained a huge appreciation for modern medicine and feel so lucky to live where we do and to be able to get the help and treatment for Lilah. She is doing fantastic and will be walking soon.
Clubfoot affects one out of every 750 children worldwide, making it one of the most common birth defects in the world. There are so many kids born with clubfeet and don't have the resources or knowledge to fix them. These kids are basically disabled and lose a chance at living a normal life. It's heartbreaking to realize it could have been so easily overcome during the earlier parts of their lives. Our family has decided to raise money to donate to an organization called Miraclefeet. Miraclefeet increases access to proper treatment for children born with clubfeet in developing countries through partnerships with local healthcare providers.
As part of our goal to raise funds Jamie will be running her 1st full marathon on September 19th. She feels very blessed to have healthy feet that will allow her to run and enjoy life to the fullest. We have set our fundraising goal of $2620 which is $100 for each mile ran in the marathon. Please consider helping us raise the funds to change the lives of children who need it by donating to Miraclefeet. Thank you so much for your support.
