My family is filled with a bunch of bad ass women. That's just a fact. From my mom to my sister to the Mamas, the Titas, and all the Ates, there has never been a time in my life when I haven't been surrounded by intelligent, strong, and confident ladies. And yesterday, my family celebrated the life of one of these incredible women: Lani Cumpas.
Today, I'm running the New York City Marathon in memory of Tita Lani.
She was one of the first women in my family to run races for fun, and when I'd hear about her running, I always thought that was so BAD ASS. She's a part of why I do run now ... because by simply setting an example, she showed me it was possible.
So this one's for you, Tita Lani! All 26.2 miles.
Thanks for being an example of awesome, and if my cousins and I end up having just a fraction of your badassness, then I think we'll all be okay.
