BENEFITING: DYNAMIC CATHOLIC INSTITUTE
EVENT DATE: Oct 16, 2011
Many people run marathons to raise money for cancer research. This is a great idea, we all know too well the devastation bodily cancer can cause. However, I will be running to raise money for a different type of cancer...cancer of the soul. I believe the greatest diseases of our age are social diseases such as hedonism, individualism, minimalism, indifference, apathy, and moral relativism. These things destroy our souls from the inside out just like cancer, however, they are even scarier because they are contagious, and they travel from person to person. I will be raising money for Matthew Kelly's organization called Dynamic Catholic (www.dynamiccatholic.com). Their mission is to research these social diseases, and to discover why Catholics leave the Church and what makes them come back. Plain and simple, their mission is to reawaken the sleeping giant called the Catholic Church, which is my mission as well. I will be offering every mile of my race as a sacrifice for a person or group of people who help me with this cause, and will be praying for the intercession of a saint in every mile to help me make a worthy sacrifice.
