BENEFITING: THE MAYORS FUND TO ADVANCE NEW YORK CITY
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
Update: Monday, November 5
There was no marathon this weekend, but there is still incredible need in the greater New York City area.
Our small disappointment at not being able to run a foot race pales in comparison to the devastation brought upon so many in the city we love. If, like us, you were fortunate enough to come out of the storm unscathed, please consider giving to those who were not so lucky.
Lauren & Em
On Sunday we will run the New York City Marathon.
Many have questioned the mayor's decision to go on with the race so soon after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. We too have mixed feelings, at once humbled by running in the shadow of such loss and proud of the resilience of the city we love. One thing we know for certain is that we cannot run this race as if it were any other. Prior to race day, we will be making a donation to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City to assist with hurricane relief efforts. We hope that those of you who are able will consider donating as well.
On race day, you can track our progress online. Lauren is Bib # 37229 and Emily is Bib # 38244. If you are in the city and able to spectate, we would love to see you along the course. If you have been affected by the storm and cannot make it, we will be thinking of you every step of the way.
Thank you for the encouragement and support that each of you have provided during the course of our training. We couldn't have made it without you.
To you, and New York, with love and gratitude,
Lauren & Em
